New Building Plan...

Hey, Beautiful Humans! I hope you enjoyed our video last week of the new facility and are as excited as I am!

I am already getting questions about when we are moving, who is moving and all sorts of curious questions. This is the plan moving forward but please bear in mind it could change as there are a lot of unknowns at this time. Remember…one of our core values is FLEXIBILITY! ;)

First, we purchased and now own the facility and the six acres to the west of it but it is not set up as we would need it to be to see patients. Second, it is currently being occupied by the Department of Human Services and under a lease agreement. These are our two primary hurdles and will take some time to navigate.

Here is what I do know…

  1. We are working with an architectural firm to reconfigure the inside to accommodate our needs as a health center. We should be done with this portion of the project in the next four-six months.

  2. At the same time as the architects are reworking the layout, I will be working to raise the approximately $10-$12 million needed to renovate the inside of the facility. This will likely take six to nine months to complete (perhaps even a year depending on what grants are awarded).

  3. Once the funds are secured for the renovation, we will begin construction. This will likely take another twelve to eighteen months.

  4. Meanwhile and hopefully, the DHS will likely remain as a tenant through the fundraising time (we are meeting with them today to discuss further).

  5. The 12th Street health center operations will be moving to the new facility as theirs is nearing the end of its useful life and will likely be bulldozed.

  6. I am not sure who will be moving to the new location for sure as it depends on what we can accommodate in the new facility based on what the architects come up with. We are keeping Walnut operational and Dr. McCulloh will remain at the Walnut location.

  7. The plan is to build a campus out there, although we are not sure at this point what that will look like.

  8. In summary, it will likely be two years before we are operational out there. I know that two years seems like a long time but in fundraising and construction timelines, it is very short.

I will keep you all in the loop as we move forward. It is going to be wonderful and I can’t wait to share the progress with you all!
