Hey, everyone! Happy Tuesday! As you have likely already heard from your Department Leader, we are working on some super exciting things SO make sure you read this entire post so that you are well informed.
Read MoreREMINDER! THIS Saturday, August 13th, from 10am-1pm is Literacy Day! The Good Shepherd will be set up there at Central Park and I would LOVE your help!
What is Literacy Day?
Literacy Day is a Back to School event hosted by Ardmore Literacy Leadership and Arbuckle Literacy Leadership. Through this event they provide (for kids) FREE eye screenings, backpacks, school supplies, dental goody bags, and access to MANY community resources - like us!
It’s a great opportunity to get the word out about all the great services we offer here at the GSCC.
What does Volunteering Include?
Volunteering at Literacy Day is mostly about being a smiling, welcoming face that shows people we do healthcare differently! Handing out supplies and GSCC swag is really all there is to do, other than tear down!
Got Kids?
That’s okay! Bring them!
Want to Volunteer?
GREAT! Let me know you’ll be there! Be sure to wear a GSCC Tee (a Building Healthy Kids one would be super cool if you have one) and bottoms that are appropriate in length! REMEMBER! You represent the GSCC when you wear the tee!
You are not required to stay the whole event, remember, this is a volunteer opportunity! Just come for as long as you can!
I am so glad I get to work with awesome people like YOU!

Read MoreAs you all know, we are quickly approaching the last few months of 2022! I wanted to take this time to remind you all to be very careful with your PTO balances! Some team members are already getting very close to using their yearly accrual of PTO even now!
The HR team is watching the PTO balances very carefully and will be talking with you and your supervisors if we see anything concerning. You will NOT be allowed to borrow more hours than you will accrue this year, so if you are getting close to that total, it MAY mean that you are unable to take the time off or will have to take it at NO PAY.
You will be able to rollover any unused PTO (up to 216 hours) into 2023, BUT beginning January 1, 2023, you will NO longer be eligible to borrow un-accrued PTO. Any PTO taken must be available in your PTO bank at the time of your request. So, please plan accordingly to ensure you have some PTO in your bank as we get closer to 2023.
As always, please reach out to me should you have any questions.

Speaking of fall, you may have noticed an event on the calendar labeled “Family Fun Night”. This event is going to be one of my favorites yet! Don’t tell the others!
We have booked the 3B Brown Ranch Hay Maze for all of our GSCC Team Members and their immediate families (this means you, your spouse/significant other, your children, or your grandchildren) to hang out together all in one place! (This event is replacing the October Quarterly Staff Meeting.)
The Good Shepherd is providing the admission for you and your immediate family members (this means you, your spouse/significant other, your children, or your grandchildren). That includes your ticket to get in the door, a hotdog, drink and all the fixings for s’mores! WOOT WOOT! We are also having t-shirts made for you and your family! (Children’s Sizes Available: Youth Small - Youth XL)
It’ll be a GREAT time! Be sure to RSVP by AUGUST 31ST below so we can be sure to give the ranch the right number and order enough tees!
REMINDER! Much like our Staff Meetings, each person MUST be in attendance to receive shirts. Excess will be added to Herd That Merch!
Read MoreI wanted to take a moment to remind you all that I do random audits of your emails and TEAMS and have noticed that several of you are writing inappropriate comments or adding GIFS that could be offensive to other team members.
I realize that the work we do at GSCC is difficult, and sometimes a little joke or funny meme can help lighten up a serious mood, but please make sure that the information you send on GSCC platforms (emails / teams / EHR / etc.) is something that is not offensive to others, if they were to see it. Some of the content I am seeing could also be considered Harassment, so please keep your communication professional. You should always refrain from using curse words or GIFs that could be considered sexual in nature.
I know it has been approved to use patient id’s to discuss patients, but please refrain from sharing “too” much information via TEAMS or email, as that could be a potential HIPAA violation. Amanda Marr has told me that there is an option to send an Athena Text and she also has given me instructions to create a group in Athena Text so you can communicate to an entire group. I will add the instructions below this post.
Harassment and HIPAA violations are serious infractions and could be cause for disciplinary action, so please refrain from posting any inappropriate information on GSCC devices.
If you have any concerns about what to send via TEAMS or email, please reach out and I’ll be happy to discuss further.

Thank you all for showing up to support GSCC at the Pep Rally last Friday. We have added the presentation here for you all to view and for those of you who weren’t able to make it.
Where to find the presentation:
If you will go to the top of the page there is a tab that says “Health Center Performance”
Scroll down and you’ll find “Q3 2022 Review” and the PDF will pop up for you.
Good morning all!
We are so thankful for all of you who were able to join us for last week’s quarterly pep rally. I appreciate each one of you stepping out of your comfort zone to practice some mindfulness activities. Even if they felt “woo woo” :)
For those of you who missed the session, Jordan will be coming by to bring you a copy of Dr. John Delony’s book “Redefining Anxiety” - it is a short read to help you quickly learn some tools to help you deal with the anxiety that creeps into our lives.
As promised, below, you will find the 3 videos we watched on Anxiety. I hope you can use them as a tool to help you turn off those fire alarms when you feel like your house is on fire! I am also posting the 2 page Anxiety worksheet we filled out together so you can download it to use again or share with someone you know.
We understand that Anxiety affects everyone, so please know that we have help for you if you need to talk to someone. I am always available to meet one on one at any time. I will keep your information confidential unless you intend to harm yourself, someone else, or the GSCC. I am NOT a professional counselor, therefore, if I feel you need an expert, I will help you find one! I am, however a pretty good listener, and will give you a safe space to share your struggles.
If you would prefer someone else, that is completely fine too, and we have 2 other resources for you.
Our Employee Assistance Program (through The Standard Long Term Disability policy for all full-time team members)
MyChap App (Marketplace Chaplains) - Debbie Rhines 580-504-1010 or Linda Humphrey 580-221-4710 - they are available 24 hours per day 7 days a week for you and your family!
You can find all this information on our Team Resources page! We are incredibly proud of the positive way you serve our patients and team members and want you all to know that we value you and want to help you turn off those fire alarms so you have a healthy, peaceful ecosystem!
If you would like to take a deeper dive into “Redefining Anxiety” I will schedule a mastermind group (weekly book study) - so if anyone is interested in that study, please reach out to me.

With the increased number of COVID cases, Dr. Carnahan (CMO) has reinstated the GSCC mask policy for team members starting today.
At this time, it is not a requirement for patients to follow this protocol.
He and the leadership team will continue to closely monitor the data reporting from the state and update us as new information is available.
Our goal is to ensure that our team members and patients feel safe and protected.
Read MoreAs you are probably aware, COVID-19 cases in our area are going up. Due to the increase in cases I wanted to send you the latest recommendations from the CDC. We will be following these guidelines:

Dustie Upton (who will be an RN soon!) has accepted the Care Team Director position for that location and Holly Harnsberger and Jewels Curington will be joining the Bloom Team full time later this month. We have also posted a position for a Social Worker (Behavioral Health Consultant) for Bloom and will be adding a Community Health Worker in the future. The plan is to begin seeing patients on July 5th at that location.

If you would like to volunteer to help out on that day, let me know! I would LOVE to have you!
Event details can be found here.
I will be delivering Building Healthy Kid Tees BEFORE Saturday, so if you plan to be there and ordered one, be sure to wear it!
